Welcome to the Maps guide. Use the tabs above to explore our resources.
The University Library has a collection of about 70,000 maps and atlases. The majority of maps are reference only, but there is a Field collection on the 2nd Floor which can be borrowed with your Campus/Library card. Atlases are mostly on the 4th Floor and can also be borrowed.
If you need to consult maps please contact Judith Fox, the Map Librarian. She can advise on the types of maps available and guide you to the ones most suited to your needs.
The OS blog is on a range of geography related topics - use the categories menu to choose a topic e.g. cartography
This extract is from the Atlas of environmental migration (Ionesco, Mokhnacheva and Gemenne, 2017). It shows how climate change is expected to impact on the population of Africa as food and water security is challenged by shifting precipitation patterns. The population density is indicated on the base map, with patterns and symbols on top to show changes in precipitation, agriculture and ecosystems.
