Study tips for commuter students

Expert guidance from Study Advice at the University of Reading

Traditionally students would expect to leave home to attend university, living in Halls or rented accommodation on or near campus. However, students are increasingly living at a distance from the university, and commuting in to attend lectures and other study commitments.

Studying successfully as a commuter student means thinking differently about how and when to study to achieve the most effective and productive outcomes. This process can be quite different depending on the subject you're studying, the distance you're commuting, the travel method you use, and other home, work or family commitments you may have. This guide aims to suggest a few strategies that have helped other students who commute to study, and start you thinking about what would work best for you in your own circumstances.
