Result of the Baltic Drainage Basin Project (BDBP), developed jointly by the Beijer Institute (Stockholm), Department of Systems Ecology, University of Stockholm and UNEP/GRID-Arendal (Norway). Interactive maps with themes such as land cover, population, pasture and wetlands.

Drawn in 1265, the Tabula Peutingeriana is apparently a map describing the world as it was known in Antiquity. Localities shown are connected by roads with distances marked in Roman numerals indicating the miles or, west of Lyon, the Gallic leagues.

CartoMundi contains about 75 000 references of cartographic documents. They cover 194 countries and are held in about 20 map libraries.

Impact of glacier retreat on water resources. Published by UNESCO. "The Atlas illustrates the significant reduction in glacier mass happening throughout the region. It quantifies the contribution of glaciers to drinking water supplies in cities, agriculture, hydropower and industries, such as mining. The findings highlight the impact of shrinking glaciers on water availability and security for millions of people."

Current Climate Summary Maps are produced daily using data from the Applied Climate Information System (ACIS) - covers the United States and its regions and shows precipitation and temperature data. Hosted by the High Plains Regional Climate Center.

Set of 227 folios published by the United States Geological Survey between 1894-1945. Each folio contains topographic and geological maps, and a description of the geology of the quad.

Covers natural environment, population, settlements, transport, agriculture, city plans and exploration.

Database of 178,000 maps dating from 1882-2006. Maps are available as web viewable images and free, downloadable digital files. Includes all scales and all editions of the topographic maps published by the USGS since the inception of the topographic mapping program in 1879. The maps have been prepared at scales ranging from 1:10,000 to 1:250,000. Some scales have broad coverage across the United States, while others may have only one map.

EnviroAtlas was developed collaboratively by the U.S. Enironmental Protection Agency in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and other organisations. Contains more than 400 different layers.

"Atlas of Surveillance [is] a collaborative effort between the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the University of Nevada, Reno Reynolds School of Journalism. Through a combination of crowdsourcing and data journalism, we are creating the largest-ever repository of information on which law enforcement agencies are using what surveillance technologies. The aim is to generate a resource for journalists, academics, and, most importantly, members of the public to check what’s been purchased locally and how technologies are spreading across the country."

Atlas of the High Plains region of the United States (Colorado, Kansas, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming). It is composed of a series of maps with various climatic variables being represented. In most instances, 77 years of data (1920-1996) were used to comprise the atlas.

The map is available in two versions: a detailed digital version, and a simplified, “generalized” map for print. There is an accompanying pamphlet. The detailed version can be downloaded as a Geodatabase or a Shape file.

The atlas explores the geography, wildlife habitat, and human uses of Southeast Alaska. Produced by Audubon Alaska.

Includes all of the geospatial data previously available from the Arizona Electronic Atlas and the Arizona Historic Census GeoDatabase plus additional data not previously available.

An interactive tool that allows users to quickly locate and identify any soil across the Hawaiian islands, and acquire basic information about each soil. The data and information were derived from the Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS) databases and websites.

The Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas of the Moon (LOPAM) is a digital archive of 675 images taken as part of the Lunar Orbiter programme. For accuracy and usability surface feature information has been improved and updated, and multiple search capabilities added to the database. The Consolidated Lunar Atlas (CLA) contains the best photographs of the Moon taken from land-based telescopes, showing the Moon under a wide variety of illumination conditions. The Apollo Image Atlas (AIA) contains photographic images of the moon taken as part of the Apollo Program. They include surface and orbital views. The Lunar Map Catalog indexes 5 map series of the Moon, at scales ranging from 1:250 000 to 1:10 000 000. There are also maps of Mars and Mercury.
